今、日本のいわゆる政府関係者や権力者など「お上」が一番悔しがってることの一つが「任天堂の首に縄をつけられないこと」だとか。
　今や日本を代表する一兆円企業、任天堂ですが、その巨大な利権に通産省などお役人や政府、そして政治家もまったく絡めないという、非常に面白い存在になっています。

　確かに自動車産業や造船、鉄鋼、土建、家電、金融、医療、放送、その他大きな日本の企業の経済発展には、必ず法律や行政の介入などがあり、いわゆる「利権」が発生します。これは各種法案などにとどまらず、大きな工場を建てるのであれば企業城下町として地元政治家の影響力、ギャンブル性の高い業種（パチンコなど）であれば警察ＯＢの天下りなど、あらゆる企業は何らかの形で、こういった「しがらみ」に縛られているのが日本の企業実態です。

　が、任天堂においてはまったく相手にされていなかった（というか、ファミコン時代から子供の玩具扱いを受けていた）のと、利益の大きさに対しての社員の少なさ、工場や施設の規模の少なさ、銀行に対する借入金の圧倒的少なさなどから、今から利権介入するスキが無い状態なのです。

　おまけに任天堂はいわゆるバイオレンスやセクシャル描写からも乖離した作品を一貫して作っているため、警察行政に媚を売る必要もなく。トヨタや日立のような企業城下町を持っている訳でもないので地元政治家の力を利用する必要も無い、さらに公共事業や国家プロジェクトとは無縁のため官僚ＯＢの天下り先になる必要も無い。また、本業のゲーム以外に異業種へほとんど手を出していないため、政財界活動をしないでも自立できる巨大企業に成長しています。

　そんな企業が今や日本最大の経常利益を上げるにあたって、いわゆるお上の側にとってはまったく旨味がない企業になってしまったとか（税金がいっぱい入る超優良企業であるわけですけど）

　ゲーム業界はファミコン時代から迫害の歴史を歩んできましたが、それが逆に独立性を生み、今、良い意味で政治や権力との癒着を防いだのは非常に面白いです。
